Hi folks,

I just removed my L22 from an old G4 Mac where it worked flawlessly several years.
Recently, I obtained a Windows PC from a friend, formatted it, and installed Win7 Pro with SP1.
No matter what I do, the driver doesn't seem to install correctly.  I've tried installing V2 Build 23 for Windows. For the hell of it, I also installed an older driver, V2 Build 18 for Windows. Either way, Device Manager shows L22 in a code 10 state.  Attempting to update the firmware, I receive a "Unable to Start Service L2Update" followed by "Open Kernel Driver Failed".  Cubase also references an ASIO Kernel failure message when choosing the L22 as my preferred interface.
Throughout all of this, I used the Administrator account and also made Administrator an owner of the Windows directory with Full Control access . . .

Device Manager:  The device cannot start (code 10)
Windows System Event Viewer Log: Error - Event 3, LynxWDM "The Lynx adapter has the incorrect firmware"

Dell Precision T5500
8GB RAM
Win 7 Pro 64-bit with SP1
Cubase 7

Thanks in advance for your help!!!

The Event Viewer error actually tells you what is wrong.  Since you have the L22 in a G4 Macintosh, it has Macintosh firmware on the card.  You need to put Windows firmware on the card - but you must do it on the Macintosh since there is no longer any way to do that on a Windows 7 machine (you could do it on XP... but that is another story).

Put the card back in the G4, then install OS X Driver Build 49u (that was the LAST driver to support the G4/G5).  Update the firmware using updater 23a.  Mind you we have no way of testing any of this since we don't have a working G4/G5...  I'm simply going by memory as to what should work.

The only other way to deal with this is to send the card back to us and we can put the correct firmware on it manually (which we would also do a full factory test on it).  There would be a small charge for this service, however.
Thank you,

Ah ha - Thanks so much for the quick response.  I had a feeling that this was the issue.  Please share the process for sending back to Lynx for the firmware update and test.  I'm obviously curious about cost too, but assume that it won't be a big deal at all.

Hi. If you can please email your name, address, phone number and serial number of the card to support@lynxstudio.com, we'd be happy to send an RMA number with all info and instructions to you. Please reference this thread as well.

Do you still have access to your MAC? We might be able to update it from there. If so, what OS is on it?
