so my aurora 16's hd cards have 2 digilink female connectors per card and my HDX card has 2 mini-digilink connectors...the hdx card is in my mac pro which is about 6'feet from the aurora's...i can not find a cable longer than 1'.5" anywhere??!@#  what, where, how do i do this...please send links, thanks

OK, so that 1'.5" cable is an adapter so i can use my old digilink 12' cable...

Danny,  you are correct.  The adapter is just to make the old digilink cables work with the new HDX card.  AVID makes both genders of adapters so you can either use old digilink cables or the new mini cables and put the adapter on the Aurora 16-HD side instead of the HDX card side.

thank you david for confirming...can you tell me how to configure this set up please...do i use a separate cable for each aurora into both ports on the hex card...or do i daisy chain???   i would put the auroras in 32 mode correct???

Danny, it really depends on how many channels you want to use.  The HDX card is capable of doing 64 outputs (32 per DigiLink port).  Each Aurora 16 can do 32 outputs (16 analog and 16 digital), so you could connect up a single Aurora 16 in 32-channel mode to each DigiLink port and that would give you 64 outputs (32 analog and 32 digital).  If you don't plan on using the AES/EBU on the Aurora for anything, then you could daisy-chain the two Aurora 16's to a single DigiLink port with both Auroras in 16-channel mode.  That would give 32 analog i/o and leave the second DigiLink port for future expansion.
